You have taught me so much over the years. I truly have looked up to you as a Grandmother, an elder, a friend and a fellow 'seeker', as you would call it. I can hear you now, "I don't know why you look up to me" (as you throw your arms up in the air). I love your humility and expressive dramatics. I'm realizing where I get some of my antics from–and that they are passed onto Finn as well. You were constantly trying to improve yourself–to be the best version of YOU that you could be. Your greatest message to me was that, "You have to stay POSITIVE in life." So simple, yet so important. Later that night, you were saying the word "positive" repeatedly, determinedly. Ironically, Finn was toddling around your condo grasping a yellow smiley face magnet in his little hand. If he lost it, he found another. He had no interest in your other magnets. I've never seen so many smiley faces in one location. Finn managed to break one, but did carry another all the way home. It found its new home on our fridge, a long journey from yours. I will keep it forever, as a reminder of this simple message. This isn't the only lesson you have taught me, although it surely is your last–at least in physical form. I promised that I would keep writing, and I meant it. The letters we have shared over the span of my lifetime are packed with lessons, friendship, support and love. I will be forever grateful for the millions of words that we shared–on paper. Real, tangible paper. So this is not my last letter.
To the most curious, literary, social, spiritual, colorful person that I know (or knew), you will be greatly missed. Your beaming smile was contagious. The gates of Heaven were vibrant with the most brilliant of colors on the day you left us.

Have no fear that the attraction of those that stand on the other side and wait for you

Lessons from Grandma Meridy (from various unknown sources)
"You either get it or you don't. Become one of those that gets it.
You create your own experiences.
Life rewards action. Make careful decisions & then pull the trigger.
There is no reality, only perception. Identify the filters through which you view the world.
We teach people how to treat us. Own, rather than complain about, how people treat you.
There is power in forgiveness. Open your eyes to what anger & resentment are doing to you."
"Watch your thoughts, they become words;
Watch your words, they become actions;
Watch your actions, they become habits;
Watch your habits, they become character;
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny."
