Matilda and Henry make four // At Home // St. Louis, MO

I recently did a session with a repeat client at their beautiful new home in St. Louis. I have said it before, but I’ll say it again, I love my job! I love seeing little bumps turn into a baby, and that baby growing into a toddler, and that toddler welcoming a little sibling into the world! Henry and Matilda are adorable together, and already interacting as if they have known each other for years. Henry loves his cars, and Matilda wants to take them and play with them too. Henry already is taking on a big brother role, pointing out things to Matilda in his favorite books. They are the dynamic duo for sure.

What I loved most of all with this session, was that Henry remembered me. His Mother and I noticed how comfortable he was, and I claimed this as the “imprint” I made on him when he was a newborn. I have a funny theory (something like the duckling theory), that if I meet a child within the first few weeks, I leave an imprint on them (or we leave it on each other)… that they will always be a bit comfortable and familiar with me. That is why I drove hours and hours to meet my nephews when they were born.

We had a fun, laid back session that could have lasted for another hour or two if it wasn’t lunch time. We went with the flow of the kiddos energy, which always works out best. Thanks for such a nice morning spent with you Henry and Matilda!

Little Carson man // 3 months // Oak Knoll Park // St. Louis, MO

It isn't very often that I get the opportunity to photograph a 3 month old. People tend to stick to the newborn/6mo/1yr sessions—thinking there are rules to the stages which you should  capture your child. Really, there is no standard! It was a blast capturing this little man at this age. What a riot. He reminded me of a little man (like most babies), and was such a trooper through it all. He is so laid back and easy going. A total Doppleganger of his Daddy. This guy was so wiped out that he took a nap after our park session—and you wouldn't have realized it during the session. He was wide eyed again and ready to give me a tour of his new digs when I arrived at his beautiful home. I just loved doing this session for yet another of my old neighbors. Only in St. Louis do you make deep, lasting friendships with your neighbors! Ok, that isn't true. But it sure is nice when you do, regardless of where you live! What a blast guys, thanks!

Welcome sweet baby Oliver

There is nothing better than photographing a new baby, other than photographing a friend's new baby! These are some old neighbors of mine, and I just adore them. They might think they lucked out getting this super sweet baby boy, but I know it is because they are super sweet human beings!

We had a chill session, and hung out around the house with baby Oliver. He didn't cry once, but did make a squeaky cry-ish sound towards the end. Haha! If only my first was that quiet! Oliver has the BEST hair-- do you see the golden fuzz?? LOVE IT! He also pulled out this quizzical expression a few times, like "Hey Ma, who's this lady person with the big black device?". What an awesome little dude! Welcome to the world little man!

So happy for you guys!

Norah + Evelyn make four // Story-Telling Session // Larson Park, St. Louis, MO

This super fun, artsy, talented (and funny!) family welcomed me into their home to capture some beautiful moments with their two gorgeous girls. We started the session at Larson Park, since it was going to be a hot day here in sweaty St. Louis.. and boy did the heat come fast! It is a good thing we hit the park first. This family was so easy going through the heat and bugs, and they were cracking me up the whole time. At one point we had Evelyn in a basket, with Norah sitting next to some thorns and being SUCH a good sport about it (there may have been bribery going on here people). These two girls are such beauties, and made a great duo! And Norah was a silly thing throughout it all, which I love.

I had way too much fun being a fly on their wall in their home, which had super-dreamy-drool-worthy light. It was just perfectly perfect. Norah is so artistic and will either be a Graphic Designer like her talented Momma (she told me she wants to grow up and be a designer like her). I see some musical talent here too and she also was teaching me about the liver, via a drawing she did! She also drew a beautiful heart (graphic, not the human heart) that was really well designed with textures and layers (I am also a Graphic Designer and respect a good illustration!). Check her out busting out in song on her cardboard guitar (and practicing on her real one with her mermaid friend). Evelyn is just talented at being downright adorable, and grabbing her toes. She was VERY focused on those toes during the whole session. She has Momma and Dad wrapped around her cute, chubby fingers. Can you blame them? Momma and Evelyn had countless moments together that I wanted to orchestrate a music video too. They were just two peas in a pod, and clearly madly in love. Norah couldn't even keep her hands off baby sister!

Norah was clearly Daddy's girl, and they really perfected the scrunch face silly-expression thing together. Clearly she got it from Dad. I was so impressed with this crazy awesome deck Dad was building, and the kitchen table he made by hand! See what I mean, the talent??

Don't forget the adorably perfect golden retriever.... baby + doggy= cuteness overload <3 Thanks guys, it was way too much fun!
