Harris family // Kuhs Estate // STL, MO

I had the pleasure of spending a dreamy morning with an incredibly sweet family, at Kuhs Estate and farm. We explored this fantastically dreamy site, and even had the chance to meet the horse and donkeys that live in the barn! There was so much to explore, but four little legs were pretty tired by the end of our session. Emmett and Monty were such troopers throughout the morning, and definitely had a blast exploring the tiered garden…. along with hanging out with the donkeys. I noticed at one point, how incredibly sweet and gentle Mom and Dad were with their boys. They spoke so gently to them, with so much love. The feeling you leave with your children will be with them forever. My Mother had this same temperament, and I strive for it every day. I admire you both for this amazing energy that you carry within your family!

It reminded me of a quote by Maya Angelou:

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Matilda and Henry make four // At Home // St. Louis, MO

I recently did a session with a repeat client at their beautiful new home in St. Louis. I have said it before, but I’ll say it again, I love my job! I love seeing little bumps turn into a baby, and that baby growing into a toddler, and that toddler welcoming a little sibling into the world! Henry and Matilda are adorable together, and already interacting as if they have known each other for years. Henry loves his cars, and Matilda wants to take them and play with them too. Henry already is taking on a big brother role, pointing out things to Matilda in his favorite books. They are the dynamic duo for sure.

What I loved most of all with this session, was that Henry remembered me. His Mother and I noticed how comfortable he was, and I claimed this as the “imprint” I made on him when he was a newborn. I have a funny theory (something like the duckling theory), that if I meet a child within the first few weeks, I leave an imprint on them (or we leave it on each other)… that they will always be a bit comfortable and familiar with me. That is why I drove hours and hours to meet my nephews when they were born.

We had a fun, laid back session that could have lasted for another hour or two if it wasn’t lunch time. We went with the flow of the kiddos energy, which always works out best. Thanks for such a nice morning spent with you Henry and Matilda!

Little Carson man // 3 months // Oak Knoll Park // St. Louis, MO

It isn't very often that I get the opportunity to photograph a 3 month old. People tend to stick to the newborn/6mo/1yr sessions—thinking there are rules to the stages which you should  capture your child. Really, there is no standard! It was a blast capturing this little man at this age. What a riot. He reminded me of a little man (like most babies), and was such a trooper through it all. He is so laid back and easy going. A total Doppleganger of his Daddy. This guy was so wiped out that he took a nap after our park session—and you wouldn't have realized it during the session. He was wide eyed again and ready to give me a tour of his new digs when I arrived at his beautiful home. I just loved doing this session for yet another of my old neighbors. Only in St. Louis do you make deep, lasting friendships with your neighbors! Ok, that isn't true. But it sure is nice when you do, regardless of where you live! What a blast guys, thanks!

Norah + Evelyn make four // Story-Telling Session // Larson Park, St. Louis, MO

This super fun, artsy, talented (and funny!) family welcomed me into their home to capture some beautiful moments with their two gorgeous girls. We started the session at Larson Park, since it was going to be a hot day here in sweaty St. Louis.. and boy did the heat come fast! It is a good thing we hit the park first. This family was so easy going through the heat and bugs, and they were cracking me up the whole time. At one point we had Evelyn in a basket, with Norah sitting next to some thorns and being SUCH a good sport about it (there may have been bribery going on here people). These two girls are such beauties, and made a great duo! And Norah was a silly thing throughout it all, which I love.

I had way too much fun being a fly on their wall in their home, which had super-dreamy-drool-worthy light. It was just perfectly perfect. Norah is so artistic and will either be a Graphic Designer like her talented Momma (she told me she wants to grow up and be a designer like her). I see some musical talent here too and she also was teaching me about the liver, via a drawing she did! She also drew a beautiful heart (graphic, not the human heart) that was really well designed with textures and layers (I am also a Graphic Designer and respect a good illustration!). Check her out busting out in song on her cardboard guitar (and practicing on her real one with her mermaid friend). Evelyn is just talented at being downright adorable, and grabbing her toes. She was VERY focused on those toes during the whole session. She has Momma and Dad wrapped around her cute, chubby fingers. Can you blame them? Momma and Evelyn had countless moments together that I wanted to orchestrate a music video too. They were just two peas in a pod, and clearly madly in love. Norah couldn't even keep her hands off baby sister! 

Norah was clearly Daddy's girl, and they really perfected the scrunch face silly-expression thing together. Clearly she got it from Dad. I was so impressed with this crazy awesome deck Dad was building, and the kitchen table he made by hand! See what I mean, the talent?? 

Don't forget the adorably perfect golden retriever.... baby + doggy= cuteness overload <3 Thanks guys, it was way too much fun!

Haddie // Larson Park // St. Louis, MO

I really want to keep this one short and sweet. Haddie is clearly such a beautiful little girl. Her Mom is a hairstylist and has great taste in fashion. But not only are they a beautiful, stylish family, they have beautiful personalities. Haddie and her Mom were so sweet and soft spoken. Haddie took a little warming up, but soon enough was chasing her Dad around, playing peek-a-boo and climbing a rock wall! The last thing her Mom said before we started was "Oh, I just really want some photos that capture the love that we share.". My heart melted.. I wish every client asked for this, because that really is all that I want to do for all of you! Capture the love that you share...

Lucy // 6 months // Jewel Box, St. Louis, MO

I can't believe Lucy is already 6 months old! Especially since I just did her newborn post. This has been a crazy year, raising my second baby boy (who decided to not sleep through the night at 10 months old, just as the busy photography season hit!). I have a lot of blogging to do in the New Year, but decided to get this adorable "holiday themed" session in while we're all sitting around drinking hot cocoa and eggnog. Tis' the Season for twinkly eyed babies that have elf hats!

We snuck in a session just after the serious cold weather hit here in St. Louis, MO. Originally we were going to brave the cold, but plans quickly changed when we arrived at Forest Park here in St. Louis, and the wind told us otherwise. The Jewel Box is a serious gem in the middle of the park, with beautiful light streaming in through the wall to ceiling windows. Lush greenery line the walls, making you feel like you are in an oasis in the middle of a desert (or in the middle of a freezing Midwestern City).

Did you notice that Lucy has twinkly eyes and never stops smiling? She also is very good at being aware of where the camera is. She is, in a nutshell, the perfect baby model. She has a sweet, calm demeanor to match. I think there is a little bit of mischievousness behind those eyes, but only time will tell with this cutie! I can't wait to watch her grow up!

Dylan at 4 months (4 months ago!)

Hey guys. I'm just doing a quick post about MY baby boy... since I haven't done that since, er.. he was born? I think that is super awesome that I am so so busy that I don't have time to do blog posts.. I'd rather have a busy business and be behind in blogging then a slow business with all the time in the world to blog! If you don't follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you should.. because I am more up to date in those places. Anywho, here is Dyl Pickle at 4 months, and he really doesn't look or act that different! He is such a laid back baby. Still bald and still not mobile! :) Good news for me! His eyes are still mystery hazel- dark green/brown.

Jackson turns 3! // Forest Park // St. Louis, MO

Obviously I absolutely love photographing people (kids especially, sorry grownups). Sometimes I have the pleasure of photographing friends or family. It is TWICE as much fun because I am hanging out with people I love, and doing what I love at the same time. And we are all usually super relaxed. That is just what I did a couple weeks ago during Jackson's 3 year photoshoot. Jackson and his parents have become good friends of mine— and I am more than honored to capture their little man on (digital) film, looking so grown up! The light was golden delicious evening light, pouring all over this adorable family! I hope I can get some more sessions during this time of day, it really is INCREDIBLE.

Jackson is a hoot. I've seen him sprout up over the last year, and I have seen his baby face start to look a bit more grown up (waa). He is such a handsome little boy, and has such an amazing attitude towards life. Jackson seems to go with the flow, wherever the wind blows.. or where there are rocks to throw! Lately he seems to run wherever he needs to go, stretching his arms back behind him, ready to take flight! Probably because he looks like a little cherub??! My son Finn LOVES playing with Jackson. I know he is just as happy as I am to have become friends with this awesome little family that we randomly met at Earth Day over a year ago!

Maggie + Patrick (and coming-soon, Henry) // Maternity // St. Louis, MO

How can I forget the star of the show, Bart (the bulldog)? He simply wanted to steal the spotlight during my recent photo session with his pregnant Mommy/owner.  His sweet, older companion, Homer (the pug) was also adorable and loving, doting on his pregnant Mommy. I love the names— Bart & Homer, my favorite childhood tv show, the Simpsons! These two adorable pups are smitten with their Mommy Maggie, as I am sure the NEW star of the show, baby Henry, will be as well. Maggie has a very calm energy, already deeply in love with this little baby. With a history of being a Nanny, I teased that she is already a professional Mom. Soon-to-be-Dad Patrick also has a calming energy, and is as loving and supportive as a Dad could be. These highschool sweethearts are starting a new, exciting chapter in their lives, and will no doubt be amazing parents. Their house will be a fun little circus for sure, with these two furry big brothers welcoming baby Henry in just a month! 

Golden Fall // Oak Knoll Park // St. Louis, MO

I was able to squeeze in one more photo session before going on maternity leave- hooray! I met the Dermer family at Oak Knoll Park, here in St. Louis, MO. Luckily, we caught the last of the fall foliage before it slipped away. There were sprinkles of orange and yellow leaves scattered among the trees in the park. I love fall, and it is the busiest time of year for photo sessions, but the colors slip away fast. It can be a gamble as to when the leaves turn and if they stick around for very long. So I always feel blessed when I capture them on film (I always say film even though I'm shooting digital-get used to it!). I never realized how much I would be in tune to the seasons, weather, sunrise/sunset and lighting when I started my photo business. I have a great respect for Mother Nature and all of the things that she will throw at you during a photo session! 

Keep in mind that I always honor a photo session that is cancelled or interrupted due to bad weather. We always can re-schedule for no extra fee.

The Dermers are an adorable and very photogenic family. They all have twinkly blue eyes and dark hair. The kiddos have freckles sprinkled across their noses. Baby Bennett probably has the most twinkly eyes and the silkiest hair! What poster a poster baby! Millie and Eli were so much fun, breaking out in dance (Whip and Nae Nae!) and laughing at themselves throughout the shoot. The kids were all loving on their Momma with lots of kisses and hugs. Simply way. too. cute.
