Harris family // Kuhs Estate // STL, MO

I had the pleasure of spending a dreamy morning with an incredibly sweet family, at Kuhs Estate and farm. We explored this fantastically dreamy site, and even had the chance to meet the horse and donkeys that live in the barn! There was so much to explore, but four little legs were pretty tired by the end of our session. Emmett and Monty were such troopers throughout the morning, and definitely had a blast exploring the tiered garden…. along with hanging out with the donkeys. I noticed at one point, how incredibly sweet and gentle Mom and Dad were with their boys. They spoke so gently to them, with so much love. The feeling you leave with your children will be with them forever. My Mother had this same temperament, and I strive for it every day. I admire you both for this amazing energy that you carry within your family!

It reminded me of a quote by Maya Angelou:

I've learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Andy + Amber // Riverwood Manor // Harrisburg, NC

I only photograph a few weddings a year, since my specialty is in children's photography- but I was lucky enough to recently capture my brother-in-law and new sister-in-law's wedding, in Harrisburg, North Carolina. Their wedding day was gorgeous, just like my new sister-in-law, Amber! I love these two so much, and feel so grateful to have them both in my life! They both make me laugh so hard, and have the biggest hearts. Amber feels like someone I have known my whole life, which is pretty much how my whole husband's family felt when I first met them. Andy and Amber met at a wedding themselves, and their connection was hard to deny. Their relationship spiraled quickly into a serious commitment, and it was soon obvious that they wanted to spend their lives together. They are two peas in a pod. I was also lucky enough to witness and capture their engagement.

The wedding took place at Riverwood Manor, on a little tree lined lake, with the sun glistening through the leaves. The day was picture perfect. Sunny, with a slight breeze. The location was rustic, yet classy. "Shabby chic" was the theme throughout the wedding, carrying Amber's French roots through all of her decor. The ceremony was so beautiful, with Amber and Andy signing their vows to each other, confirming their love and commitment through thick and thin. Family and friends surrounded them, glowing in approval. The sky was golden before the sun set, smiling down on these two lovebirds. We are just so happy for you two, and cannot wait to spend holidays together year after year. Love yas!

Kappel Family // larson park // st. louis, mo

I recently photographed this awesome family, with three kiddos (all individually unique). The youngest was super outgoing and silly. She reminded me a little bit of myself as a child. Her name is Annie, which is what I went by as a kid. I'm pretty sure I told her Mom numerous times how funny and adorable I thought Annie was (so I must be funny and adorable- er was at one point?!). I, like Annie, am also the youngest of three kiddos, with a big brother and big sister. 

Annie clearly was the outgoing, silly child. Her energy was infectious. She LOVED to be center stage. She was unique and colorful. I think birth order is so interesting, and I'm sure there are a lot of youngest children like Annie... outgoing and silly, refusing to let their voice go unheard. I love it! 

Emma and Sam were so patient and sweet with their younger sister Annie. They let her be in the middle, in the front, on center stage. They were laughing at her funny antics most of the time, too. Like it was just another scene in their movie called life. Emma was the patient older sister. The way the light was bouncing off of her was so beautiful. Sam was a silly one himself, but also had this old-soul element. He was super comfortable in front of the camera, and did a crazy back bend. You kids rock. What a fun family! 

Grace is 1! // Forest Park // St. Louis, MO

I had the pleasure of photographing Miss Grace around her first birthday! What a sweet girl! We were blessed with some magical light on her photoshoot, along with some beautiful surroundings! Grace had a smile that lit up her surroundings, and very twinkly blue eyes that made your heart melt. And those lashes... and that adorable dress! She had some other funny expressions that captured what was on her mind. Like... "This balloon is amazing! Wow a clip to HOLD the balloon!". She was totally full of grace, but not afraid to get down and dirty when we wanted some crawling photos. She loves her Mommy and Daddy, her dog, books... and learning to walk.

Jackson turns 3! // Forest Park // St. Louis, MO

Obviously I absolutely love photographing people (kids especially, sorry grownups). Sometimes I have the pleasure of photographing friends or family. It is TWICE as much fun because I am hanging out with people I love, and doing what I love at the same time. And we are all usually super relaxed. That is just what I did a couple weeks ago during Jackson's 3 year photoshoot. Jackson and his parents have become good friends of mine— and I am more than honored to capture their little man on (digital) film, looking so grown up! The light was golden delicious evening light, pouring all over this adorable family! I hope I can get some more sessions during this time of day, it really is INCREDIBLE.

Jackson is a hoot. I've seen him sprout up over the last year, and I have seen his baby face start to look a bit more grown up (waa). He is such a handsome little boy, and has such an amazing attitude towards life. Jackson seems to go with the flow, wherever the wind blows.. or where there are rocks to throw! Lately he seems to run wherever he needs to go, stretching his arms back behind him, ready to take flight! Probably because he looks like a little cherub??! My son Finn LOVES playing with Jackson. I know he is just as happy as I am to have become friends with this awesome little family that we randomly met at Earth Day over a year ago!

Hello Dylan (a.k.a.) Dyl Pickle // St. Louis, MO // 12.12.15

Welcome sweet baby Dyl Pickle. You were the fourth element in this family that was meant to be here all along. My heart feels like it has always known you. It was that way with Finn, too. And Finn says he has always known you. Finn has been talking to you before you arrived, and singing too. He says you talked back while in my belly ;) Since day one you have looked at me with knowing eyes, as if you have a secret you are bursting to tell me. Matter of fact, you started baby talking much earlier than I remember Finn babbling. And you really seem to know what you are saying. I just wish I knew this big secret you are trying to tell me! 

Dylan means "Son of the wave, born by the sea." In Welsh it is derived from the word IIanw, meaning "tide" or "flow". In Welsh Dylan was a god or hero associated with the sea. (We are not Welsh, nor do we live by the sea.. but we always have lived by a sea/ocean and love water. The name just felt right!)

Richard is his middle name, after his Pawpaw White (Rick), who is an incredible, adorable, lovable, hilarious, sweet, sweet man (when he isn't being sarcastic or teasing me)—with the twinkliest blue eyes you've ever seen! Dylan did not get his twinkly blue eyes, but I swear his hazel eyes (so far), do have a twinkle. The name Richard is derived from "ric" (ruler, leader, king) and "hard" (strong, brave), and therefore means "powerful leader". 

Dylan was born just two days (and three years) after his big brother Finn, just before Christmas (take notice of the angry elf photos, lol- it was nap time). He was sweet enough to wait until we celebrated Finn's birthday. He also weighed two ounces less, not wanting to trump his big bro ;) He is as sweet as a sweet Dill Pickle, and as snuggly as I had hoped and dreamed. I am beyond smitten over him, as he appears to be with me (but as soon as he realizes how cool and fun Daddy is, it'll all change). He smiles so so so much. I am so glad that he has his Daddy's laid back demeanor! We are so thrilled to have you here Dyl Pickle, finally!
